Peer-to-Peer Education & Mentoring

In 2024, our Peer-to-Peer Education & Mentoring Programme will reach 3,000 youth with information on reproductive health, gender equity, drug abuse prevention, and leadership development.

In partnership with the Gold Youth Development Agency, AYC's Programs Coordinator and six intern facilitators trained 180 peer educators at three sites (two local schools and the Centre).

These trained peer educators subsequently reach out to their peers in schools and diverse communities, instigating a transformative process.

Once a week, our interns meet with the peer educators at their schools and the Center and facilitate skills training sessions. These sessions extend beyond theoretical knowledge with role playing and real life scenarios are to stimulate situations that youth may encounter in their communities. This approach enhances their ability to apply the acquired skills in diverse and sometimes challenging contexts.
